C'est Rouge a cabaret inspired musical and dance experience hosted live weekly in the Saxony theater in Miami Beach, originally launched in the summer of 2016 under the direction of international choreographer Bianca Li. I personally had a hand in styling the show along side Parisian couturier Laurent Mercier, artist/fashion photographer Juan Gatti, and avant garde hairstylist Oribe. With a cast of 10 dancers, 2 world renowned gymnasts, and a 7 piece latin jazz band this brand of entertainment plays tribute to the historic and legendary acts that helped make Miami Beach famous. The Faena Hotel is the site of the iconic 1948 Saxony Hotel located at 3201 Collins ave. Alan Faena reimagined and fully restored the historic property that has always been known for its decadence. Hollywood director Baz Luhrmann and costume designer wife Catherine Martin were enlisted to design the new theater inspired by the grandeur and glamour of european opera houses.

Nearly everyday of this year I have spent working to make Chayanne's 2015 En Todo Estare Tour the best one yet. Planning for the tour started with concept sketches in December 2014 and a flurry of fittings and rehearsals in January 2015. Kicking off in San Luis Potosi, the tour started in February 2015. Eight sensual dancers with a hard rocking ten piece band backing up Puertorican Singer, dancer, and actor "Chayanne". Thousands of crystals were used on many of my designs along with colorful fringe and accessories. I am very proud of the leather like catsuits I created for a sexually charged "Lola". Night after night my all time favorite costume design dazzles during "Bailando Dos Corazones" with vibrantly colored fringe and mesmerizing choreography.
An almost two hour concert of Latin pop and ballads featuring about 23 select songs ranging from his most successful songs of his career: "Guajira", "Quiero Bailar Contigo", "Salomé", "Un Siglo Sin Ti", "Lola", "Dejaría Todo", "Fiesta en América", "Baila Baila", "Tu Pirata Soy Yo", "Torero", "Provócame", "Completamente Enamorados", "Tu Boca", "Ay Mamá", "Cuidarte el Alma", "Y Tú Te Vas", "Volver a Nacer", "Atado a Tu Amor"and "Candela" to songs from his latest 2014 album En Todo Estaré: "Madre Tierra", "Humanos a Marte", "Tu Respiración" and "Bailando Dos Corazones."
The US leg performed to sold out arena crowds across the country and continues with scheduled performances in Puerto Rico, Chile, and Mexico

In the words of Director Heidi Marshall: Creating live theater is both terrifying and exhilarating. The process is deep and meaningful and lasts forever in the cellular memory. The reward for the risk of an artist is not only creating a gorgeous product (congrats to my Viva Broadway team!) but, more importantly, when one has an inspired journey.

I received a unique invitation to participate in Viva Broadway as Wardrobe stylist for a cast of theatrical veterans and young rising stars. District Stage Company's Viva Broadway is the first event funded by a Knight Arts Challenge Grant awarded to the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center for an initiative called Bring It Home Miami aimed at reconnecting established artists to their home community.

With direction by Heidi Miami Marshall (yes, that’s the Broadway and film director’s real name) and musical direction by Alex Lacamoire, the show featured Tony Award winner Karen Olivo, Nina Lafarga, Jose-Luis Lopez, Eliseo Roman, Janet Dacal, Henry Gainza and Andy Señor Jr., with special guest Jon Secada. Woven into the fabric of an evening built around the theme of home are 14 Miami-Dade high school performers who won their roles through a New York-style audition.

Washington D.C. — Born Free USA's annual fur-free fashion competition once again attracted a wide variety of designs from around the world, reflecting the continued belief by emerging design stars in the benefits of shunning fur, protecting animals and the environment, and embracing the green fashion movement. Winners of Born Free USA's 5th Annual fffashion Competition were announced August 28th 2013, after a celebrity judging panel made their final decisions.

According to Adam Roberts, Executive Vice President of Born Free, "Over the past five years our fur free fashion competition has been celebrating and encouraging those in the fashion industry to implement a fur-free work ethic and a commitment to the environment. We want to identify and celebrate emerging designers who believe in animal welfare and wildlife conservation and have no interest in perpetuating the cruel fur industry. We are impressed with these winning designs chosen by our generous panel of celebrity judges and hope for a future where these eco-conscious designers can influence the fashion industry against using fur."

Judges for the competition this year were award-winning television, film, and theater actress, Joanna Lumley; international design and couture legend, Elizabeth Emanuel, perhaps best known for creating Princess Diana's wedding gown; international top model and reality television star, Joanna Krupa; actress and television host, Katie Cleary; costume designer, fashion historian, and professor, David James Cole; and Hollywood fashion designer to the stars, Dalia MacPhee. The panel also includes Brita Belli, editor of E/The Environmental Magazine and Summer Rayne Oakes, eco-model, activist, and green living expert.

<![CDATA[Image and Fashion Consultant for the Entertainment Industry]]>Thu, 02 May 2013 16:39:09 GMThttp://carriecabrera.com/home/image-and-fashion-consultant-for-the-entertainment-industryPicture
Crucial impressions and assumptions are made based on our image and within seconds opinions are formed. An effective image for an artist is a conduit to garnering attention and using it as a tool to their advantage.

Behind every successful artist/entertainer there is most certainly a well tuned image consultant. All artists of note have certainly profited from the advice and skill of an image consultant or experienced fashion stylist. I work closely with talent to create a unique image that best represents who they are as a artist or who they want to become.

The public is extremely judgmental to performers picking apart the slightest flaw. An image consultant teaches the things an artist needs to consider to succeed in a world where time is sparse, impressions count more than ever and a powerful image can make or break you.

Besides giving advice on flattering colors and silhouettes, image consultants can boost clients' confidence, enhance persuasion skills and communication abilities. With a strong put together image, fine-tuned body language, social grace and networking tactics, clients feel better prepared in the ruthless entertainment business.

Image Consultants are a rich source of information including contacts to bespoke tailors, the best shoe makers for dancers, sourcing the most slimming and seamless undergarments. From fashion and grooming to fitness and etiquette an image consultant will seamlessly pull together not only an effective wardrobe but offer cosmetic and fitness advise, as well as putting them in touch with leading hair and makeup artists.

My services including all of the tools, skills, talent, experience and connections to create a powerful marketable image for a client. A strategic visionary with proven track record of industry image consulting services with A list talent.

<![CDATA[Burlap Fashion and Eco Friendly Design]]>Wed, 03 Apr 2013 18:57:28 GMThttp://carriecabrera.com/home/burlap-fashion-and-eco-friendly-designPicture
Burlap bodice with cowry shell detial.
Lately I have been researching more eco friendly materials and elevating their importance by incorporating them into high fashion designs. One of the most simple, oldest, inexpensive and eco friendly textiles that comes to my mind is Burlap. It is beige in color and has a large weave pattern, allowing burlap to have the ability to "breathe." Burlap is very strong and does not tear easily. It can withstand being exposed to water repeatedly and can be produced in many sizes and and widths according to need.

Burlap comes from the jute plant which was grown almost exclusively on the Indian sub-continent during the 1700s and right up through today. Though Burlap is though of as having a rough sac like textile and would be thought of as undesirable in contemporary fashions. I have set out to reinvent burlap and give it some much needed positive fashion PR. By experimenting with different finishes I have achieved new textures with the most readily available basic fabrics easing the coarseness and adding a fresh perspective. Burlap can also be dyed in many colors with a fiber reactive dye if the natural brown jute color is not to your liking. In the coming months I will be posting my results.

In 2010 I used basic brown burlap for the bodice of a 1790's costume I created for a fantasy character inspired by the Artwork of Edouard Duval Carrie. I collaborated with Edouard while working on the South Dade Art and Cultural Center opening, in which the works of Edouard Duval Carrie and myself along with several local Miami artists were featured.
